EMO CHI Exercise 1

The basic steps for Emo Chi Exercise 1:

(1) Allowing yourself to relax, take 20 deep and comfortable breaths through your nose while you insert the two fingers, next to your thumb, in the notch beneath your nose and above your upper lip. After the 20 breaths you may remove your fingers from the notich.

(2) Place your feet shoulder-width apart with your knees comfortably and slightly flexed. You will maintain this position during the remainder of Emo Chi Exercise #1.

(3) Tap very slowly with your right palm on the general area immediately above your thymus. Allow the tip of your tongue to touch the roof of your mouth.

(4) Comfortably keep your spine straight and your head up. Look straight ahead.

(5) Extend your arms as if wrapped around a tree trunk with all your fingertips slightly separated.

(6) Keep breathing deeply through your nose and imagine a large baloon inflating with each inhalation. Gently allow your attention to focus on cultivating energy flow here in what you might call your "qi ball". Keep your shoulders relaxed and your elbows comfortably dropped. The exercise can last from 3 to 10 minutes. Allow it to be comfortable and energizing.

TIPS ON EMO CHI EXERCISE 1

* This exercise raises the flow of qi energy in the circular area inside your outstretched arms and assists us in moving toward "flow". This is a fine way to start off the day or before you do important tasks or clearing.

* Bring your full attention to the circular area framed by your arms. Notice any sense of energy here. At first it will be subtle. When you grow more practiced you will experience a strong sense of energy flow. This position can unblock our meridians. Afterwards we can become more involved and focused in an activity.

* Allow a friend to apply a gentle downward push on your outstretched arms. This will help you gain a better posture and make certain you are working with qi energy and not just muscular action.

* Shortly you will experience the qi energy ball.

*If your attention drifts, just subvocally say "drifts" and bring your attention back to the energy ball which your arms surround.

* As you become more proficient in this exercise you can use it to do clearing. After you've achieved a good energy ball, you can shift your attention to any stuck emotion or physical sensation and fully experience it with no intention of getting rid of it or keeping it. This can act as a fine energy clearer because your meridians get unblocked during the exercise. Don't attempt any clearing with this exercise until you really have the exercise down and working. The Emo Chi exercise is intended primarily for getting us moving toward "flow".
